RADIOMETRIC QUALITY ASSESSMENT FOR MAXAR HD IMAGERY

چکیده

Abstract. The requirement for very high-resolution satellite imagery by different applications has been increasing continuously. Several commercial and government-supported missions provide sub-meter spatial resolutions from optical sensors aboard Earth Observation (EO) satellites. MAXAR constellation acquires images with up to 30 cm Ground Sampling Distances (GSDs); the High-Definition (HD) image production technology developed doubles resolution using artificial intelligence methods. Although is one of most important quality metrics, several other factors indicated diverse radiometric geometric characteristics may circumscribe usability data in projects. As part mandatory activities European Space Agency (ESA), Earthnet Programme provides a framework integrating Third-Party Missions into overall EO strategy promotes international use data. Data Assessment Pilot (EDAP) project aims at assessing suitability TPMs, communication platform between mission providers ensure coherence systems. In this study, HD products was evaluated within EDAP General Image-Quality Equation (GIQE) visual inspections, comparative assessments orthophotos obtained an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) original (non-HD) resolutions. results show that improvements are observable urban areas, where sharp edges present. However, blurring color noise patterns also occured images.

Assessment of radiometric correction methods for ADS40 imagery

This article presents the results of an assessment of radiometric correction methods of images taken by the large-format aerial, photogrammetric, multispectral pushbroom camera Leica Geosystems ADS40. The investigation was carried out in the context of the multi-site EuroSDR project “Radiometric aspects of digital photogrammetric images”. Images were collected at the forestry research test site...

Automatic radiometric normalization of multitemporal satellite imagery

The linear scale invariance of the multivariate alteration detection (MAD) transformation is used to obtain invariant pixels for automatic relative radiometric normalization of time series of multispectral data. Normalization by means of ordinary least squares regression method is compared with normalization using orthogonal regression. The procedure is applied to Landsat TM images over Nevada,...

Radiometric Correction of Multitemporal Satellite Imagery

Problem statement: Repeated observation of a given area over time yields potential for many forms of change detection analysis. These repeated observations are confounded in terms of radiometric consistency due to changes in sensor calibration over time, differences in illumination, observation angles and variation in atmospheric effects. Also major problem with satellite images is that regions...

Radiometric Performance Requirements for Optimal Atmospheric Processing of Hyperspectral Imagery

The radiometric performance of an hyperspectral sensor is limited due to physical constraints such as quantization, noise levels, spectral resolutions, and calibration accuracy. During the definition phase of a hyperspectral instrument, these numbers have to be defined based on scientific requirements for atmospheric correction methods to be applied and with respect to a variety of hyperspectra...

Automatic Relative Radiometric Normalization for Change Detection of Satellite Imagery

Several relative radiometric normalization (RRN) techniques have been proposed till date most of which involve selection of pseudo invariant features whose reflectance are nearly invariant from image to image and are independent of seasonal cycles. Extraction of such points is quiet tedious and human operator has to provide mutual correspondence by choosing easily recognizable and time invarian...
